In addition to his geared locomotive that made him famous, Ephraim Shay (1839-1916) designed and built the Harbor Springs Water Works, a stamped-steel building called the Hexagon House and a steel yacht called the Aha.

Join in the fun of this family-friendly event marking the 176th anniversary of the inventor's birthday.

10:30 am             Bringing Ephraim Shay to life! Summer open house activities for kids at the museum including a visit with Ephraim Shay himself

11:00 am             Presentation with Duane Fahey, Shay family descendant, at the Shay Hexagon House

1:00 pm Birthday cake and celebration for Shay’s 176th at the Shay Hexagon House


1:30 pm               Presentation with Bruce Gathman at the museum entitled “Ephraim Shay: The Man, His Inventions and His Railroad”
