Petoskey Stone Hunting

 
The Petoskey Stone was designated Michigan’s state stone in 1965. Today, the most popular place for hunting them is a Lake Michigan beach. These “stones” can be hunted from springtime until the snow flies. The hot spot for Petoskey stones? The Petoskey breakwall. Other places are all along the bay in Harbor Springs and Petoskey, including the areas listed below.
